Military Family Week events set Nov 12-18

Fort McCoy will celebrate Military Family Week from Sunday, Nov. 12-Saturday, Nov. 18 with a number of free or reduced-price events. The free or reduced prices will be available only to military ID card holders and their family members.

One-day events include a trip to the La Crosse Children's Museum Friday, Nov. 17 and the Comics on Duty Tour, which will be at McCoy's, building 1571, from 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 14. This event is open to all employees at Fort McCoy.

Participants going to the Children's Museum are requested to bring a nonperishable food item (one per family), which will be donated to the Better Opportunities for Single Soldiers program food drive. Bus transportation will leave from Building 2111, the Welcome Center, at 6 p.m. and return at 10 p.m.

Tickets for the Comics on Duty Tour are $7 in advance and $10 the day of the show. Eligible personnel can register for free tickets at the Nov. 4 Quilt Show. Free tickets also will be given away as part of the 9 Pin No Tap Bowling Tournaments at McCoy's Nov. 4.

Rumpel Fitness Center

 Free Family Personal Training Sessions from 8 a.m.- 4 p.m. daily. Participants must be at least 13 years old. Appointments are required.

 Free private family swimming lessons will be offered by appointment only.

Community Activity Center

 Four free tokens for the MWR Car Wash can be picked up at the Recreation Center, building 2000.

 The Recreation Center also is offering one free movie rental per day.  The Arts and Crafts Shop is offering one free holiday ceramic ornament to decorate.

Child and Youth Services

Child and Youth Services are sponsoring a Military Family Week Coloring Contest. Entry forms and pictures can be picked up at the Post Exchange, building 1668; the Commissary, building 2132; Child and Youth Services, building 1944 or 1747; and Army Community Service (ACS), building 2111. Winners in each age category will receive $50 bonds.

Military VIP readers also will read stories to Child Development Center attendees.

 McCoy's bowling alley, located in building 1571, is offering a special rate of $1.25 per game (excluding League).
