| An upgraded Fort McCoy information booth now is in
place at the La Crosse Airport.
Art Davey of the Directorate of Support Services Plans and
Services Division said a new display was put into service in January
near the baggage claim check area.
The new setup features a touch-screen computer, brochures and a
courtesy telephone for free calls to the Fort McCoy operator. The
Fort McCoy logo is displayed prominently to make the area easy to
locate, Davey said.
"It's a good customer-service enhancement, and the next-best
thing to having staff at the airport," Davey said.
Customers can use the touch-screen computer to get information
about different Fort McCoy activities or to print maps.
The program displays screens with information about the
organizations that offer training courses, such as the Army Reserve
Readiness Training Center, the Noncommissioned Officers Academy and
the Wisconsin Military Academy, among others.
Davey said the computer is an upgraded version of those currently
in service at the Main Gate and at Billeting. The DynaTouch Company
of San Antonio, Texas, installed the touch-screen computer. As part
of the project, Davey said the DynaTouch Company also provided
updated software for the touch-screen computers at the Main Gate and
Billeting.
The courtesy telephone will allow customers to contact the
installation's operators, who are on duty around-the-clock. Davey
said the operators will be able to connect the callers to any number
at Fort McCoy, such as Transportation, Billeting, etc.
The brochure area will include such Fort McCoy information as the
Fort McCoy Area Guide so personnel can read up about the
installation while they wait for transportation.
"We've already received a lot of positive comments from
personnel who have said the new setup has been very helpful for
them," Davey said.
