TSP open season to end, new system starts July 1 [ back to top ]

The final open season for Thrift Savings Plan (TSP) will end Thursday, June 30.

Effective Friday, July 1 the Federal Retirement Thrift Investment Board will implement Public Law 108-469, which will eliminate open seasons and restrictions on contributions tied to open season.

After the close of the upcoming TSP open season June 30, contribution elections will be processed under the new rules -- elections must be made effective no later than the first full pay period after they are filed. Participants will continue to file contribution elections with their agencies or services in the same fashion they have previously, and the agencies and services must continue to implement the elections by deducting contributions from participants' pay and reporting these amounts to the TSP each pay period.

The new law does not affect the waiting period new employees covered by the Federal Employees' Retirement System must serve before they become eligible for agency contributions to their accounts. In addition, the law does not affect contribution allocations or interfund transfers, which can be made at any time by using the appropriate Web sites or the ThriftLine or for military personnel by submitting an Investment Allocation form to the TSP.

For more information about TSP, visit the TSP Web site at http://www.tsp.gov or call the ThriftLine at (877) 968-3778 (1-877-YOU-FRTS).

Civilians served by the Fort McCoy Civilian Personnel Advisory Center must use the ABC-C (Army Benefits Center-Civilian), Benefits/EBIS (Employees Benefits Information System) electronic system to enroll or change TSP enrollment options or civilians can enroll through the IVRS system by calling (877) 276-9287. Hard copies are not accepted for civilians. Members of the uniformed services must use Form TSP-U-1-C.

Army touring company to stop here Sept. 21-22 [ back to top ]
BRAVO! Army Theatre Touring Company is presenting a touring a production of PVT. WARS, by James McLure, a dramatic story of three soldiers recovering from war injuries at an Army hospital.

The production tour, which is under way, will stop at Fort McCoy Wednesday, Sept. 21 and Thursday, Sept. 22.

Comprised of a series of black out scenes, although humorous at times, this poignant play blends these into a mosaic as the three tease, torment, entertain, exasperate and, on occasion, solace each other -- maintaining throughout a hilarity which belies their deep concern about the uncertainties of the civilian world to which they will soon be returning.

While moments of humor move you through their relationships that have formed, the deeper and emotional struggles of each one becomes clearer not only to us, but to themselves.

Although there is no foul language in this play or acts of violence, this play is not designed for young children as it deals with the realities of war and the consequences it sometimes brings to the emotional state of those involved. Physical loss, suicide, drinking are some of the themes addressed in the play.

This production was selected by BRAVO! as this tour is designed to be performed primarily on installations in the continental United States (CONUS) and outside the Continental United States (OCONUS) where active theatre programs exist and a more cultured theatrical audience expects to be challenged through the art of theatre.

More details about the location and time of the performances at Fort McCoy will be released as they become available from the Directorate of Morale, Welfare and Recreation.
