2017 scholarship deadlines approaching

Scholarships for Military Children applications due Feb. 17

Applications are due Feb. 17 for the Scholarships for Military Children program.

Scholarships for Military Children was created in 2001 to recognize the contributions of military Families to the readiness of the fighting force and to celebrate the role of the commissary in the military Family community. It awards 700 $2,000 scholarship grants to military Family members.

Applicants must fill out a two-page application, provide an official transcript, and write an essay of 500 words or less on a provided topic. Rules and requirements for the program are available at Applications also can be picked up at the Fort McCoy Commissary in building 1537.

FEEA Fund now accepting scholarship applications

The Federal Employee Education and Assistance (FEEA) Fund is now accepting 2017 scholarship applications.

FEEA is an independent, nonprofit 501c3 organization devoted solely to providing emergency financial assistance and scholarships to civilian federal and postal public servants and their Families. FEEA also has a for-profit subsidiary, FEEA Childcare Services, which administers child care subsidy programs on behalf of a number of federal agencies.

FEEA champions the pursuit of higher education and each year supports more than 200 students with merit-based scholarships.
Scholarships are open to full- or part-time permanent federal civilian or postal workers employed with the federal government for more than three years, their children, and their spouses. Some associations and unions partner with FEEA to provide specific scholarship programs for their employees, employees' children or spouses, or retirees' grandchildren. AER now accepting scholarship applications

Army Emergency Relief, or AER, is accepting applications for its Spouse Scholarship Program and the Maj. Gen. James Ursano Scholarship Program for dependent children until May 1.

The Maj. Gen. James Ursano Scholarship Program is a need-based scholarship program established to assist dependent children of Army Soldiers in obtaining a first undergraduate degree. The spouse scholarship also is a need-based scholarship program established to assist spouses of Army Soldiers in obtaining a first undergraduate degree.

The entire application package for the 2017-2018 school year must be submitted online at by May 1.
