2016 Fort McCoy Guide available now throughout post

Print copies of the 2016 Fort McCoy Guide are available now at racks throughout the installation, and a modified version can be found online through the Fort McCoy public website at

The annual guide contains information about a variety of topics, including a Fort McCoy overview; telephone directory; and community life, attractions, and history.

AER campaign ends May 15; donations sought

There is still time to contribute to the 2016 Army Emergency Relief (AER) campaign. Donations will be accepted through May 15.

AER obtains a large share of the funds necessary to support its mission through donations from both the general public and from the Army Family.

"Army Emergency Relief provides a wide variety of help to Soldiers and their Families," said Army Community Service (ACS) Financial Readiness Program Manager and AER Officer Blonza Graves.

Wellness Fair set for May 18

Fort McCoy's annual Wellness Fair is set for Wednesday, May 18, from 9:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Rumpel Fitness Center, building 1122.

The American Red Cross will accept blood donations from 9:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Donors can preview eligibility requirements by calling 800-733-2767 or going online to

A 5k run and 2-mile walk are scheduled for 10:15 a.m. Prizes will be awarded to the top runners. The first 100 participants to register will receive free T-shirts. Register online at or at the fitness center. Participants must register by 9:30 a.m. May 18.

Area businesses will showcase health and fitness products and services from 10:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Health screenings also will be offered by some companies. Food will be available for purchase from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Door prizes also will be given.

Commissary case-lot sale set for May 20-21

The Fort McCoy Commissary will hold a case-lot sale for all authorized patrons Friday, May 20, from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Saturday, May 21, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. in building 1782.

Items ordered for the sale (subject to change without notice) include canned vegetables and fruit, laundry detergent, bathroom tissue, paper towels, juice, water, snacks, cereals, and much more.

3-gun shoot set for May 21 at Sportsman's Range

A three-gun shoot is scheduled for Saturday, May 21, at 9:50 a.m. at Sportsman's Range.

The competition consists of three courses on the pistol, shotgun, and rifle ranges in four divisions: open, tactical scoped, tactical irons, and heavy metal. Scores are based on time and accuracy.

A prize will be awarded to the top shooter in each division. Firearms are available for rent at the range. Rented firearms must use ammunition purchased from Sportsman's Range. Suppressors and short-barreled rifles are not allowed.

Entry fees are $20 for members, $25 for nonmembers before the day of the event, and $30 for nonmembers the day of the event.

Register at Sportsman's Range during regular business hours or from 9 to 9:45 a.m. the day of the event.

The competition is open to eligible range patrons. Additional three-gun shooting competitions are scheduled for June 18, July 16, Aug. 13, Sept. 16, and Oct. 15.

Memorial Day Prayer Luncheon scheduled for May 26

The annual Memorial Day Prayer Luncheon is scheduled for Thursday, May 26, from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. at McCoy's Community Center, building 1571.

The guest speaker is Father Michael Lightner of the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Milwaukee.

Lunch will be provided by the Fort McCoy Religious Support Office. The event is limited to 100 people. Reservations are required by Tuesday, May 24.

Pool scavenger hunt planned May 27 at fitness center

An underwater scavenger hunt is scheduled for Friday, May 27, from 5 to 6:30 p.m. at Rumpel Fitness Center, building 1122.

The cost is $5 per person. No advance registration is necessary.

Participants can keep the items found during the scavenger hunt. The event is open to eligible fitness center patrons.

Army Mud Assault Run scheduled for June 4

The Army Mud Assault Run is scheduled for Saturday, June 4, at Whitetail Ridge Ski Area.

The approximately 3-mile course features more than 25 obstacles and mud pits. A children's race starts at 9 a.m. Two adult competitive races begin at 10 and 10:15 a.m. Noncompetitive adult races begin every 15 minutes starting at 10:30 a.m.

Prizes will be awarded to the top runners in the competitive races. All runners receive participation medals.

Food, beverages, and T-shirts will be available for purchase with cash only.

The event is open to the public. Adult military members, Family members, and Department of Defense civilians pay $25 until May 21, $30 between May 22 and June 3, or $35 the day of the race. Members of the public pay $30 until May 21, $35 between May 22 and June 3, or $40 the day of the race. Registration for the children's race costs $10 during all registration periods.

ZZ Top, Gregg Allman to play Aug. 20 concert; ticket sales kick off June 24

The 2016 Army Concert at Constitution Park will feature ZZ Top and Gregg Allman Saturday, Aug. 20. A kickoff sale Friday, June 24, will offer show tickets for $40.

Tickets will be available at Kwik Trip locations in Sparta (Black River Street), Tomah (West McCoy Boulevard), Onalaska (Highway 16 and Highway 35/Oak Forest Drive), and La Crosse (Rose Street) from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. and online at from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m.

Starting June 25, tickets will cost $50. Day-of-show tickets will cost $60.

Fort McCoy Commissary offering fresh lunch items

The Fort McCoy Commissary is selling fresh deli sandwiches and sushi on Wednesdays and Fridays.

Sandwiches and sushi are made at the Great Lakes Naval Station Commissary and delivered Wednesday and Friday mornings to the Fort McCoy Commissary.

The commissary orders a variety of items for walk-in customers, but patrons also may special order both sandwiches and sushi. Orders must be placed by 9 a.m. Tuesday or Thursday for the following day's delivery. An order book is available at the customer-service window.

Party trays, cakes, and salads also may be ordered. Larger items must be ordered three to four days in advance.
Salads and cut fruit also are prepared daily and available in the produce department.
