Bass-population survey

Two fishermen try to catch largemouth bass as part of a hook-and-line bass-population survey in mid-August at North Flowage at Fort McCoy.

Several people participated in the annual survey, which is managed by the Directorate of Public Works Natural Resources Branch, to help determine how largemouth bass are growing and surviving in the flowage.

Each bass that was caught was tagged and released back into the flowage. Some previously tagged bass also were caught, and their growth was recorded.

Watershed management specialist Steve Rood, who works under an agreement between Fort McCoy and Colorado State University, measures the length, records the weight, and tags a largemouth bass.
