McCoy's offers punch card for weekday lunch buffet

McCoy's Community Club, building 1571, is offering a new punch card for the weekday lunch buffet.

Patrons who purchase 10 buffet meals will receive an 11th meal free. The all-you-can-eat buffet is offered from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. weekdays. It features pizza, breadsticks, pasta, salad, and a daily special. The buffet costs $7 or $8.50 with a soft drink.

SHARP refresher course offered Aug. 20, 25, 27

Sexual Harassment/Assault Response and Prevention (SHARP) Annual Refresher Training will be held from 8 to 10 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 20; Tuesday, Aug. 25; and Thursday, Aug. 27; at Army Community Service (ACS), building 2111.

The training describes the effects of sexual harassment and sexual assault, examines prevention strategies, and discusses Department of Defense sexual-assault statistics and reporting.

SHARP annual refresher training is mandatory for Soldiers and DA civilians and must be completed by Sept. 30. Registration for the course is required and must be completed by the Monday before the desired class. To register, email ACS SHARP Point of Contact Jamie Cram at


3-D archery contest scheduled Aug. 22 at Sportsman's Range

A 3-D archery competition is set for Saturday, Aug. 22, at Fort McCoy's Sportsman's Range.

Participants can shoot the course anytime between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m. The competition is for all skill levels and open to the public. Prizes will be awarded to the novelty-shoot and competition winners. Participants do not need to be present at the end of the competition to win.

Summer Sizzler fitness challenge runs Aug. 24-28 at Fort McCoy

A 25-mile walk/run fitness challenge is scheduled Aug. 24-28.

Participants are challenged to run or walk 5 miles per day for five days in this noncompetitive event. The Summer Sizzler challenge is open to all authorized fitness-center patrons.

Register by Monday, Aug. 24, at Rumpel Fitness Center, building 1122. After registering, participants will receive a card to track their times and distances. Return the completed card to the fitness center for a prize. For more information, call 608-388-3200.


Learn to delegate tasks at Aug. 25 ACS class

Learn the art of delegation at a class Tuesday, Aug. 25, at Army Community Service (ACS), building 2111.

The class, which is scheduled for 12:30 to 4 p.m., is taught by Jon Fields, a certified business coach with a doctorate from Purdue University. He will teach participants how to delegate and not "dump" tasks on their employees, provide constructive feedback, reduce workloads, and motivate employees to perform well.

Get a grip on finances through Aug. 26 class at ACS

A class designed to help consumers understand credit cards is scheduled for Wednesday, Aug. 26, at Army Community Service (ACS), building 2111. The class also will explain credit bureaus and debt-collection practices. Classroom participation is encouraged.

Oil-changing workshop set Aug. 28 at auto center

A change-your-own-oil workshop is planned Friday, Aug. 28, from 1:30 to 9 p.m. at the Automotive Skills Center, building 1763.

Staff members will guide participants through the process of changing oil and filters. Allow 30 minutes to complete an oil change. The workshop is open to eligible MWR patrons. Participants should bring their own oil and filters. Regular bay fees apply. No registration is required; participants will be accepted on a first-come, first-served basis. 3-gun shooting contest Aug. 29 at Sportsman's Range

A three-gun shooting competition will be held Saturday, Aug. 29, at 10 a.m. at Fort McCoy's Sportsman's Range.

Participants will shoot three courses of fire. Each stage will be judged on speed and accuracy. Prizes will be awarded to the top finisher in each of the following categories: open, tactical scoped, tactical irons, and heavy metal.

The event is open to all authorized users of the facility. The entry fee is $20 for nonmembers or $15 for members. Register at Sportsman's Range or at Pine View Campground, building 8053. Shotguns, rifles, and pistols are available for rent at the range. Rented firearms must use ammunition purchased at the range. Food and beverages will be available for purchase.

Fantasy Draft Night planned Aug. 29 at Recreation Center

The Recreation Center is hosting a fantasy-football draft night Saturday, Aug. 29.

Directorate of Family and Morale, Welfare and Recreation patrons and their guests may reserve space to conduct live drafts. The cost is $15. Draftboards, clipboards, pens, markers, paper, and snacks are supplied. In addition, a $2-off pizza special is available from 4 to 8 p.m. Appointments can be set up for any time during Recreation Center hours, which are noon to 8 p.m.

Retiree Appreciation Day set for Sept. 11

Registration for Fort McCoy's Sept. 11 military Retiree Appreciation Day (RAD) must be received by Friday, Sept. 4. Retirees from all branches of the armed forces and their Family members are eligible to attend.

Retiree Appreciation Day is an opportunity for all armed forces retirees, spouses, surviving spouses, and/or guests to receive updated information about retiree entitlement programs.

The 2015 event will be held from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m., with sign-in for the morning speaker session starting at 7 a.m. in building 905. The Benefit Fair begins at noon in building 90.

Fort McCoy Day for Kids planned for Sept. 12

Fort McCoy's annual Day for Kids is scheduled for Saturday, Sept. 12.

The Kids Fun Run will start at 9 a.m. at Patriot Park at South Post Housing. The run is for children ages 3 to 18 years old. After the run, Families can head to the School-Age Center/Youth Center, building 1792, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. for more fun.

Day for Kids activities include information and activity booths, inflatables, and a free hot-dog lunch while supplies last. The event is open to members of the Fort McCoy community.

'Run, Splash, Lift' challenge runs through Sept. 28

Rumpel Fitness Center is conducting a "Run, Splash, Lift" challenge.

Participants are challenged to run 26.2 miles, swim 2.4 miles, and lift a total of 10,000 pounds during a two-month span ending Sept. 28.

Cards can be picked up at the fitness center, building 1122. Participants should document their progress on their cards and turn them into the fitness center upon completion. This a noncompetitive event, and registration is not required.
