Concert rocks large crowd at Constitution Park

Almost 5,000 guests enjoyed the 2013 concert held Aug. 14 at Fort McCoy's Constitution Park under ideal weather conditions. Tickets sold at a steady clip with a robust walk-up audience at the gate.

Grand Funk Railroad kicked off the concert with its signature hard-rock hits from the 1970s.

Next up, the group 38 Special performed a reprise of its 2001 concert at Fort McCoy. The group rocked the crowd with its arena rock-pop hits.

The Chicago-area band Styx was the main attraction and brought its arena-rock sound to the proceedings by performing a number of its top songs, as well.

Concert sponsors were Miller Light Beer, Pepsi, Mike's Hard Lemonade, Reinhart Food Service and USAA. No federal endorsement is implied.

Fort McCoy has scheduled concerts in every year since 1997. Plans are under way to host a concert in 2014.
