Model Ts

The Doughty 500 Model T automobile tour group made a stop at Fort McCoy's Commemorative Area July 17. Each year the group gathers together and travels 500 miles touring the U.S. This year they used Sparta as their home base and visited the local area in their vehicles.

Guests at the Family Fun Day at Pine View Campground play on one of the inflatable games. Other activities at the event included Grandpa Nick's Petting Farm, the Fort McCoy Police and Fire Department Smokehouse, a sponge relay and face painting. Fun with Freddie run/walk

Participants in the Fun with Freddie 5K run/walk event in early July navigated a scenic route that went through the campground and ski hill trails. The next scheduled runs are Paws at Pine View Aug. 10 and the Roadkill 5K scheduled for Sept. 17.

Youth Center construction

Employees from the Atlantic Marine Corporation move a modular building section in to place to construct the new School Age/Youth Center in the installation's 1700 block. The 18,000-square-foot, $7.7 million facility is scheduled to be completed by May 2014.

5-Day Fun Club

Bethel Powers, Ben Weeks and Emily Lomprey, volunteers for the Christian Youth in Action program (left) lead the 5-Day Fun Club summer Bible study at Fort McCoy. Weeks (bottom) leads a controlled running event during the club, which was held from July 8-12. The free event mixed fun with Bible study for youth.
