McCoy hunters harvest 606 deer during 9-day season

Even with unseasonably warm weather for much of the hunt, gun-deer hunters at Fort McCoy still harvested 12 more deer during the 2012 nine-day season than during last year’s hunt, said David Beckmann, Fort McCoy Wildlife biologist.

Whitetail Ridge to open
Dec. 26, weather permitting

Fort McCoy’s Whitetail Ridge Ski Area will offer expanded Saturday hours and the winter favorites of downhill skiing, snowboarding and snowtubing when it opens for the 2012-13 season Wednesday, Dec. 26, weather permitting.

Event honors National Native American Heritage
Two members of the Menominee Indian Tribe of Northern Wisconsin talked about the role of military service in the Native American community as well as their continuing service to their communities during Fort McCoy’s observance of National Native American Heritage Month Nov. 27.
