Movie 'Fort McCoy' filmed at installation  [ back to top ]

Scenes for the upcoming movie "Fort McCoy" were shot on location at the installation in mid-September.

The Hollywood film company, Marzipan Entertainment, also has been shooting scenes at various locations in the area. The movie is based on a true story written by writer/producer Kate Connor, which presents the lives of her grandmother’s family who lived next to Camp McCoy in the 1940s during World War II.

The script tells about the interactions of the family with German and Japanese prisoners of war. It is part love story, part coming-of-age story and part drama.

Actors appearing in the film include Eric Stoltz (Pulp Fiction, Mask), Camryn Manheim (Ghost Whisperer, The Practice), Seymour Cassel (White Fang, ER), Brendan Fehr (CSI: Miami), and Lyndsy Fonseca (Desperate Housewives, The Young & the Restless).

The independent film is scheduled to be marketed next year, with a special showing planned for the 100th anniversary of Fort McCoy in the summer of 2009.
