Avoiding the flames

A competitor in the adult race leaps the "Fire Zone" obstacle at the 2017 Fort McCoy Mud Assault on June 10 at Whitetail Ridge Ski Area. The annual event brought hundreds of people out to compete and they made their way through obstacles with names that included the "Snivel Swim" and "Major Pain."

Children's race

Competitors in the children's race at the 2017 Fort McCoy Mud Assault make their way through a mud obstacle June 10 at Whitetail Ridge Ski Area. There were 25 obstacles and mud pits total. An adult race followed the children's race.

Through the muck

Mud Assault competitors crawl through one of the mud pits during the adult race. Food, beverages, and T-shirts were all available at the event, which was coordinated by the Directorate of Family and Morale, Welfare and Recreation.
