DJ Trivia held weekly at McCoy's

McCoy's Community Center, building 1571, holds DJ trivia from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Mondays.

There is no cost to enter, and advance registration is not required. Prizes are awarded weekly to the top three teams.

The competition is open to all Fort McCoy employees and their guests. Participants must be at least 18 years old to play.

Post Commemorative Area open to walk-in visitors June 23

The Fort McCoy Commemorative Area will be open for walk-in visitors from noon to 4 p.m. June 23. Members of the public are welcome.

The Commemorative Area consists of the Equipment Park, five World War II-era buildings with historical displays, the History Center, and Veterans Memorial Plaza. The History Center and World War II-era buildings contain artifacts dating from Fort McCoy's inception in 1909 up to present day.

Members of the public must present valid photo IDs at the Main Gate to get a visitor's pass. For information on visitors' passes, call the Visitor Control Center at 608-388-4988.

Groups of 15 or more may schedule tours from 7:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday.

'Connect the Tots' play group scheduled for June 27

The 'Connect the Tots' play group will meet 9:30 to 11 a.m. June 27 at South Post Patriot Park.

The play groups are for parents with children 5 years old or younger. Through play, transitions, circle time, songs, activities, and informal conversations, parents learn about developmental ages and stages, gain tools to help understand their children's behavior, and become empowered to prepare the Family and children to enter school ready to learn.

ACS events are open to military members, retirees, civilian workforce, Family members, and registered Fort McCoy volunteers. Additional play groups are planned for July 11 and 25 and Aug. 8 and 22.

'Walk for the Health of It' planned for July 12

"Walk for the Health of It," a 2-mile walk starting and ending at Rumpel Fitness Center, is planned for 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. July 12.

Walkers will receive a water bottle for participating. Health and nutrition information will also be available.

Leinenkugel's Brewery Tour scheduled for July 15

Fort McCoy employees, Soldiers, and their guests can take a tour of Leinenkugel's Brewery on July 15.

The trip includes transportation, a tour of the brewery, beer tasting, and a souvenir glass. All participants must be at least 21 years old.

The bus will depart from McCoy's Community Center, building 1571, at 8 a.m. and return at 4 p.m. Registration is required by June 23. The event costs $30 per person.

Family crafting workshop scheduled for July 15

A Crafting Resilience Workshop is scheduled for 9:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. July 15 at Army Community Service's Family Workshop Center, building 2161.

Supplies are provided for a number of activities, including scrapbooking, stamping, card making, canvas painting, and no-sew quilt blocks. Some items have limited supplies. Family members also may bring their own projects.

Exceptional Family Member Program members can begin at 8:30 a.m. Family can register for two- to four-hour blocks of time.
An additional workshops is scheduled for Aug. 5. Registration is required by the Monday before a workshop.

Class size is limited. Children must be accompanied by an adult. Army Community Service events are open to military members, retirees, civilian workers, Family members, and registered Fort McCoy volunteers.

Dodgeball tournament set for July 19 at fitness center

A dodgeball tournament is scheduled for 4:30 p.m. July 19 at Rumpel Fitness Center, building 1122.

Each team needs five people. Teams will play a best-of-three series. Winners will receive a trophy and pizza.

Training dates available for 2017 SHARP courses

Dates have been set for fiscal year 2017 Sexual Harassment/Assault Response and Prevention, or SHARP, refresher courses.

Overview training will be held from 8:30 to 10:30 a.m. July 20, Aug. 10 and 23, and Sept. 6 and 12. The training describes the effects of sexual harassment and sexual assault, examines prevention strategies, and discusses Department of Defense sexual-assault statistics and reporting.

All classes will be at Army Community Service, building 2111.

SHARP annual refresher training is mandatory and must be completed by Sept. 30. Advance registration is required. Unit or directorate training is available upon request.

Swim Into Summer at Rumpel Fitness Center

The Swim Into Summer competition will run until July 26 at Rumpel Fitness Center, building 1122.

Participants will swim the 200-meter freestyle and try to beat Coach McGinnis' time. Participants can try to improve their times as much as they want from June 21 to July 26.

Participants should register for time slots at the fitness center. The competition is open to all authorized Directorate of Family and Morale, Welfare and Recreation patrons.

Milwaukee Brewers trip planned for Sept. 23

A trip to a Milwaukee Brewers game is planned for Sept. 23.

The event costs $75 per person and includes transportation, a ticket to the Milwaukee Brewers vs. Washington Nationals game, and a tailgate party. The bus will depart from McCoy's Community Center, building 1571, at 11 a.m. The game starts at 6:10 p.m.

The event is open to Fort McCoy employees, Soldiers, and their guests. Registration is required by June 30.
