Voters reminded to participate in 2016 election

The 2016 general election is fast approaching, and Fort McCoy community members are reminded to make their voices count Tuesday, Nov. 8.

Polls in Wisconsin are open from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. Nov. 8. Polling locations can be found by entering a home address online at https://myvote.wi.gov.

In-person absentee voting is available until 7 p.m. Nov. 4. Voters can request and vote an absentee ballot in person in their municipal clerk's office. Office hours vary by municipality.

The deadline to register for the Nov. 8 election at a municipal clerk's office is 5 p.m. Nov. 4. Voters also can register to vote at their polling places on Election Day, Nov. 8.

All voters in Wisconsin can request absentee ballots be mailed to them for any reason.

Voters must be registered before requesting an absentee ballot and may request an absentee ballot in writing. Deadlines for requesting and submitting absentee ballots vary.

To request an absentee ballot or to view deadlines, go online to https://myvote.wi.gov. A photocopy of a valid ID is required with absentee-ballot requests.
