CYSS fee changes to take effect Nov. 1

Department of Defense (DOD) changes to the 2016-2017 school year Child, Youth and School Services (CYSS) fee policy take effect Nov. 1.

Standardized DOD fees for child care are used Armywide. By law, military child care fees are based on total family income (TFI), not military rank or civilian grade.

All military services subsidize fees on a sliding scale for every Family regardless of rank or grade. Fees are broken down into nine categories and are assessed regardless of the age of the child. Also, the DOD is required to annually review fee ranges within various TFI categories.

The Army's 2016-2017 school year child and youth fee policy addresses patron fees for child development centers, school-age care, Family child care, middle school and teen programs, SKIESUnlimited instructional programs, youth sports and fitness, and Army community-based programs.

The Army continues its commitment to affordable child care and youth programs by striving to keep fees lower than comparable community programs and by paying a portion of the cost of care for most Families using child and youth programs, said Fort McCoy CYSS Coordinator Jan Fink with the Directorate of Family and Morale, Welfare and Recreation.

Current CYSS customers already have been notified of the fee changes. For more information, call Parent Central Services at 608-388-8956.
