National Night Out

Firefighters with the Fort McCoy Directorate of Emergency Services Fire Department meet with members of the public Aug. 2 during the Monroe County National Night Out at Winnebago Park in Tomah, Wis. National Night Out offers communities an opportunity to learn more about health, safety, and wellness from local organizations. Fort McCoy has participated in this community-outreach event for several years.

Survival skills

A Soldier with the Todd R. Cornell Noncommissioned Officer Academy teaches youth about land navigation and compass use July 13 at Fort McCoy. The activity was part of Survivor Week at Child, Youth and School Services' summer camp.

'Sit, Sip, Paint'

Fort McCoy and local community members work on paintings during the "Sit, Sip, Paint" event July 29 at McCoy's Community Center. With the help of artist Linda Oldenburg, participants created their own works of art to take home. The event was coordinated by the Directorate of Family and Morale, Welfare, and Recreation.

Nature park work

Capt. Brian Gualtieri (background) and Sgt. 1st Class Dwayne Baggett, both with the 1st Battalion, 351st Brigade Support Battalion, clear brush next to a hiking trail near Whitetail Ridge Ski Area at Fort McCoy Aug. 3. The work is part of a volunteer effort to create a small nature park for Fort McCoy Families. The Soldiers are coordinating the effort with Fort McCoy outdoor-recreation and natural-resources personnel.
