Hundreds attend 2016 Winter Extravaganza

Winter Extravaganza participants tube down the slopes at Whitetail Ridge Ski Area at Fort McCoy Jan. 30.

Winter Extravaganza at Whitetail Ridge Ski Area Jan. 30 brought out more than 700 people to enjoy numerous Family-fun events.

The 2016 event, open to the public, brought people from the surrounding communities, such as Tomah and Sparta, together with Fort McCoy to enjoy events from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Throughout the day, many people participated in the slalom race, "big-air" competition, an obstacle course, a snow-pile dig, carnival games, and a hot-dog-eating contest.

Door prizes also were given out, including a season pass to the ski area, a two-night cabin stay at Pineview Campground, a hotel stay in Sparta, and several gift cards to local businesses.
