Emergency-management exercise set for Jan. 12-15

Fort McCoy will conduct an emergency-management exercise Jan. 12-15.

The exercise, Vigilant Triad 2016, will begin approximately 8 a.m. Jan. 12. The exercise is part of a continuing effort by the Department of Defense to refine and improve emergency response to natural and man-made incidents.

Disasters such as winter-weather-related events and hurricane damage to military facilities along the East Coast in recent years continue to show the importance of practicing emergency response.

Various scenarios will be conducted in the training and cantonment areas to test Fort McCoy's capabilities and allow evaluators to critique performance. During the course of the exercise, Fort McCoy personnel and residents may expect changes to traffic patterns, closed roads, and other delays in and around the cantonment area.

Personnel and residents may also receive "exercise" email alerts concerning the installation.
