Halloween 5k

Participants in the Fort McCoy Halloween 5k run/walk take off Oct. 30 in front of Rumpel Fitness Center. The event, organized by the Directorate of Family and Morale, Welfare and Recreation, required all participants to wear Halloween costumes while they competed in three-person teams.

Top Sportsman Competition

A participant in the Top Sportsman Competition fires off a pistol at a target at Fort McCoy Sportsman's Range in October. The competition included timed events for shotgun, rifle, pistol, and 3-D archery.

Jason Bost took first place with 66 points and a time of 4:57:01. Chad McTaggert earned second place, and Jim Paulson took third. For more about Sportsman's Range activities, call 608-388-9162.

Astronomy Night

Fort McCoy youth use fruit to make a model of the solar system as part of activities for Astronomy Night at the School-Age Center/Youth Center (SAC/YC) in mid-October.

The night's activities also included events such as "asteroid tag" and star gazing. Astronomy Night is an event associated with the SAC/YC After-School Program.

Safety treats

Safety Specialist Tim Cumberworth with the Installation Safety Office (ISO) places Halloween treat bags at residences at Fort McCoy's South Post Military Family Housing Oct. 30. The bags were filled with child-friendly items that promote personal and home safety. The ISO conducts the Halloween safety event every year.
