Tree protection

Curt Andrews (left) of John Deere Landscapes of Waukesha, Wis., instructs James Kerkman (center), Fort McCoy forester, and Charles Mentzel (right), forestry technician, how to apply a special pesiticide to ash trees May 15 on Fort McCoy.

The treatment is a protective measure to guard the installation's ash trees against the Emerald ash borer, which has killed many ash trees in the Upper Midwest of the United States.
