Fort McCoy plans Strong B.A.N.D.S. events

Start National Sports and Fitness Month off with a TRX course Monday, May 4, from 5:30 to 6:15 a.m. at Rumpel Fitness Center, building 1122. Class participants will receive a free wristband.

A Wellness Fair is planned for Wednesday, May 13, at the fitness center. There will be healthy living suggestions, healthy recipes, and a 5k run/walk in the morning. Customers attending the fair will receive a wristband.

Child, Youth and School Services will host a boot camp Wednesday, May 13, featuring an obstacle course. The activity is open to children enrolled in the after-school program and will take place during normal program hours.

McCoy's, building 1571, will have a Healthy Food Alternative Buffet menu Wednesday, May 27, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.

There will be a StoryWalk throughout May. Pages of a book will be placed along a walking trail for participants to read. The StoryWalk Project was created by Anne Ferguson of Montpelier, Vt., and developed in collaboration with the Vermont Bicycle & Pedestrian Coalition and the Kellogg Hubbard Library.

Patrons can visit the gym in May and look through a variety of healthy recipes and healthy living tips or talk to a personal trainer about the opportunities offered at Rumpel Fitness Center. The Recreation Center library in building 2000 also will have a collection of healthy recipes and tips for healthy living.
