Oh deer!

A whitetail deer feeds on a range on Fort McCoy's South Post. Deer are located throughout Fort McCoy.

The Installation Safety Office cautions drivers to be on the lookout for deer on or near Fort McCoy roadways especially during current and upcoming hunting seasons.

Mattress upgrade for barracks

An employee from Windsor Worldwide Inc. of Conyers, Ga., moves a new mattress into place Oct. 9 in a barracks building in the 2800 block of Fort McCoy's cantonment area. More than 4,000 new mattresses replaced old ones in Fort McCoy barracks buildings. The Directorate of Public Works Troop Facility Support Branch coordinated the mattress upgrade.

Central Registration Office open

Karla Rynes, a Directorate of Family and Morale, Welfare and Recreation (DFMWR) employee, helps customers at the DFMWR's new Central Registration Office (CRO) in building 1668. The CRO is open Monday through Friday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. The CRO sells season passes for Whitetail Ridge Ski Area, Sportsman's Range annual passes, Car Wash tokens, MWR gift certificates and Rumpel Fitness Center class punch cards. Customers also can register for MWR events, reserve pavilions and get MWR identification cards at the office. For more information, call the CRO at 608-388-2813.

A worker from NUVO Construction Company of Milwaukee, Wis., works on the roof of a barracks building Oct. 15 at Fort McCoy. The work is part of an ongoing effort that upgrades many of Fort McCoy's World War II-era buildings with new siding, roof, exterior doors, flooring, fire suppression system and other upgrades. The current contract includes the renovation of more than 70 buildings.

Expanded library at RSO

Management Services Assistant Eve Bean of the Fort McCoy Religious Support Office (RSO) organizes a bookshelf Oct. 14 in the RSO Library. The RSO recently expanded its library with additional books, CDs and DVDs that are available for checkout by installation service members and Department of Defense civilian employees. The library is open Monday through Friday from 7:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. Call the RSO at 608-388-3528 for more information.
