Assistant Secretary of the Army for Installations, Energy and Environment Katherine Hammack (seated, right) is briefed by Fort McCoy staff and leadership Aug. 5 as part of a one-day visit to the Wisconsin installation.

The briefing provided an overview of Fort McCoy's mission, strategic objectives, capabilities, interaction/command relationships, strategic-planning process, energy and environmental initiatives as well as future challenges.

This was Hammack's first visit to Fort McCoy.

The visit included 10 Congressional staff members who serve with representatives from Illinois, North Carolina, Florida and Oregon.

They learned more about the Army and military operations, overall.
