Volunteers needed for Fort McCoy concert

Volunteers are needed to help with the Aug. 9 Fort McCoy Concert featuring BOSTON and The Doobie Brothers.

Karla Rynes, Recreation Center manager, said volunteers are an extremely important part of the event because their efforts save Fort McCoy in labor costs.

"It lets us put money back into Fort McCoy to serve our Soldiers," she said. "It's a great way to thank our Soldiers and give back to them for what they do for us."

At least 250 volunteers are needed for the concert, Rynes said. Anyone, including the public, who is 16 years old and older, can volunteer.

Volunteer positions include ticket takers, wrist banders, beverage servers, ticket sellers, parking attendants, and will call personnel.

Rynes said the time commitment for volunteering includes a one-hour training meeting Thursday, Aug. 7 at 4:30 p.m. and four to eight hours the night of the concert.

Rynes said the concert volunteers attend the concert free and receive a free T-shirt.

Additionally, volunteers will be invited to attend an appreciation night Thursday, Aug. 21 at McCoy's Community Club, where the volunteers will get VIP treatment, a free meal and beverages, she said.

To volunteer, call Rynes at 608-388-4161.
