Fort McCoy's Wellness Fair is Wednesday, May 14 at the Rumpel Fitness Center, building 1122. This year's theme is, "Know Your Limitations and then Defy Them!"

The annual event, presented by the Directorate of Family and Morale, Welfare and Recreation (DFMWR), offers members of the installation community an opportunity to get up-to-date information on health, wellness and fitness, said Julie Pressler, Recreation Programming specialist.

"All the information is free and offers participants a great networking opportunity with organizations at Fort McCoy and the surrounding communities," she said.

The event will include a Red Cross Blood Drive from 9:30 a.m. to 1 p.m.; a 5-kilometer run/two-mile walk at 10:15 a.m.; a vendor showcase of products and services from 10:30 a.m. to 1 p.m.; Hot Shots and Lightning basketball competitions from 11 a.m. to noon, and the announcement of the "Inch Your Way to Success" winners at noon.

This year's vendor showcase boasts a variety of booths from service providers at Fort McCoy and in the surrounding communities, Pressler said.

Participants can attend the fair at their leisure throughout the day, however, registration is required for the run/walk. Registration information will be posted to the DFMWR website at www.mccoymwr.com. The first 100 participants to register will receive a free T-shirt.

Pressler said mobile mammography services will be provided by Mayo Clinic Health System and sponsored by Blue Cross Blue Shield Federal Employee Program from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. in front of fitness center. The mammogram takes 15 minutes and is available for free to any Blue Cross Blue Shield Service Benefit Plan subscriber.

Other insurance carrier members can participate, however, charges will be billed according to the benefits of that carrier. For more information or to schedule an appointment, call 608-392-6237.

Prizes also will be given away and will be announced throughout the event, Pressler said. Participants must be present to win.
Food from McCoy's Community Club also will be available for purchase.

Pressler said the event is a collaborative effort between DFMWR organizations event sponsors. The event is sponsored in part by the University of Phoenix, USAA and Gundersen Health System. No federal endorsement is implied.
