Wendy Zabst, a Fort McCoy military pay technician, visits with Amy Scheevel of the Blue Cross/Blue Shield Federal Employee Program during the Health Benefits Open House March 25. The open house included Scheevel and a representative from the Government Employees Health Association who were on hand to answer questions and assist with any insurance-related issues.

Headquarters Company

Capt. Sherman D. Thrash accepts the flag of Headquarters and Headquarters Company, U.S. Army Garrison Fort McCoy, from Garrison Commander Col. Steven W. Nott at a change-of-command ceremony April 4 in building 905.

Thrash will serve as the interim commander until the arrival of Capt. Randall Sumbles in late April.

Thrash replaces Capt. Matthew H. Wright, who will be attending training at Fort Leonard Wood, Mo., before reporting to his next assignment. Wright served as the company commander since 2011.

It's All About Us

Fort McCoy Army Community Service sponsored an "It's All About Us Day " March 22.

The all-day event was designed to promote the importance of taking care of oneself to increase resilience in order to create and maintain a more-balanced lifestyle.

Stations were setup for each of the five dimensions of strength: Family, Emotional, Physical, Social, Spiritual. Attendees accomplished an activity at each station and were asked to identify how/if that activity could be classified with any of the other dimensions of strength.

BMX Skills

BMX rider Terry Adams of Team Red Bull showcases his skills by performing tricks on a bicycle March 28 at the Fort McCoy Exchange parking lot. Adams was supporting an event set up by the Army and Air Force Exchange Service staff. Adams is a professional BMX racer and athlete.

Surf's up?

Outdoor enthusiasts got in one last day of winter fun March 22 at Fort McCoy's Whitetail Ridge Ski Area. The water-filled skim pond was a crowd favorite. Until it's time for Whitetail Ridge to reopen (approximately mid-December), consider checking out all that Pine View Campground has to offer.
