The Fort McCoy Recreation Delivery Team is a one-stop-shop for organizing and executing recreational programming for garrison, tenant and training units or organizations at the installation.

Nick Sanjari, Recreation Delivery Team manager, said the team can provide support for almost any type of unit party, sports tournament, league, or team-building activity.

If an organization wants to host an event, activities such as a canoe trip, archery day, or camping trip can be organized, Sanjari said.

The requestor's date, time and location/facility preferences, need for special accommodations, budget restrictions, travel restrictions (if applicable), and estimated number of attendees are considered.

"Units can call our office and give us basic details of the activity they are looking for. We will then put together a few courses of action for the event and present it to the requesting group."

Once the event course of action is confirmed, the team coordinates all event details and informs the organization's point of contact.

Sanjari said the team handles all facility reservations and can make arrangements for food and beverages. The team also can help with site set-up and take-down.

The team is part of the Directorate of Family and Morale, Welfare and Recreation (MWR) Community Recreation Division, which has access to all MWR facilities and equipment.

The Rumpel Fitness Center, McCoy's Community Club, Pine View Campground, Whitetail Ridge Ski Area, Sportsman's Range and Community Activity Center, among other facilities, are available.

"Because we have access to MWR facilities, costs for units can be nominal, depending on the type of activity," Sanjari said.
Depending on the event, the team may also be able to provide prizes for events and competitions.

"We can also make purchases for events, like equipment and supplies, but they will need to be purchased out of the requesting group's budget," he said.

In addition to organizing private functions, the team coordinates all the recreation activities on post.

"We put on all the garrison activities such as 5-kilometer races, the Mud Run, Haunted Trails, the Army Birthday event, sports leagues, events at Whitetail Ridge and Easter Eggstravaganza," Sanjari said. "We have a lot of experience organizing events and activities and want to bring that experience to units at Fort McCoy."

"People aren't aware that we're here and available to help with their needs," Sanjari said. "It's our goal to bring awareness of the customer-based recreational programming that's available to units and organizations at Fort McCoy."

The team also can assist units with participating in Warrior Adventure Quest.

Warrior Adventure Quest is a Department of the Army program that aims to mitigate high-risk behaviors through high-adventure activities such as zip-lining, rock climbing, ropes courses, paintball, kayaking and canoeing, Sanjari said.

Organizations wanting to plan an event or activity should contact the team two to three weeks prior to the event date. For large events, contact the team eight weeks in advance.

The team currently is at work organizing a Customer Appreciation event Saturday, March 1 at Whitetail Ridge Ski Area, and an Artist's Corner event Friday, March 28.
