McCoy's BOSS program offers expanded eligibility

Fort McCoy's BOSS program is not just for unmarried service members.

It is open to single DOD civilians and geographical bachelor personnel. Married personnel also may attend meetings and volunteer, but cannot be funded at BOSS events, unless at a large community event sponsored by BOSS, said Fort McCoy BOSS President Sgt. 1st Class Brad Zimmerman.

At Fort McCoy the BOSS program holds Adopt-a-Highway trash pickups throughout the year and volunteers at various

installation MWR events, Zimmerman said. Members also volunteered at an animal shelter in November for the first time.
Recreational events have included water park trips, snow tubing and bowling.

Zimmerman said those with quality-of-life issues at the installation can bring them up at BOSS meetings to ensure their concerns are heard and directed to the appropriate people.
