Winter Extravaganza
set for Saturday

Whitetail Ridge Ski Area's annual Winter Extravaganza event is set for Saturday, Jan. 25 with the ski/tubing hills opening at 10 a.m.
The event is open to the public and kicks off with a snow adventure race at 9 a.m. Registration is required by 8:30 a.m., with a $20 entry fee. Other activities include a snow pile dig, carnival games, a slalom race, an obstacle course race, rail jam competition (pictured right), and more. Door prizes will be given away throughout the day.
Specials will include $20 lift tickets, $10 tubing passes, and $20 ski lessons ($30 with equipment rental). Equipment rental is available on site. For more information, call 608-388-3517/4498.

Soldiers from Fort McCoy Headquarters and Headquarters Company, U.S. Army Garrison clear snow Jan. 14 in front of building 100. Temperature fluctuations in January on post have been extreme, ranging from 26 below zero to 41 degrees, with wind and frequent snowfall adding to the equation. To enjoy some of what Mother Nature has provided, head out to Winter Extravaganza on Saturday.
