Maintenance training

Students participate in a Senior Leadership Course at the Fort McCoy Regional Training Site-Maintenance in December. The course teaches logistics noncommissioned officer duties and responsibilities, distribution management and ordnance-specific subjects. The instruction is designed to teach logistic Army sustainment warfighting functions as well as materiel management oversight and skills necessary to perform as a senior noncommissioned officer operating at the brigade-support battalion-support level or higher.

Frosty Foot treadmill race

Participants in the Frosty Foot 3-mile treadmill race accumulate mileage on the Rumpel Fitness Center treadmills. The winners were Melissa Bailey at 23 minutes, 23 seconds (23:23) and Tony Steinhoff at 18:14. Authorized patrons looking to reach their fitness goals can join the fitness center's Ticket to Fitness program, which is underway and will continue through Feb. 27.

Whitetail Ridge open

Whitetail Ridge Ski Area staff rent equipment to patrons. The facility is open Fridays from 4:30 to 9 p.m., Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. and Sundays from noon to 6 p.m. A number of special events, including Winter Extravaganza set for Jan. 25, will be held during the season, which will run through March, weather permitting. Fort McCoy community members sample the cookies and bars at a cookie bakeoff held in December. The winners were: 1st Place Cookies - Liane Haun (Directorate of Public Works) and Bars - Lindsey Muehlenkamp (Directorate of Family Morale and Recreation) and 2nd Place Cookies - Jenny Hockstedler (spouse retiree) Bars - Col. Audrey Lewis (Installation Legal Office).

McGruff the Crime dog visits with a Family at the Fort McCoy Christmas Tree Lighting Ceremony. Any group in the Fort McCoy community can request McGruff to visit their event. Youth must be present at events McGruff attends. Call Capt. Rick Jackson at 608-388-2266 for details.
