Red Dragon

A Soldier with the 379th Chemical Company based in Chicago sprays down a Humvee during decontamination operations conducted as part of exercise Red Dragon at Fort McCoy. Red Dragon is designed to prepare units for future deployments by providing realistic training. It is the Army Reserve's only chemical, biological, radiological, and nuclear training exercise designed to assess the capabilities of participating units to perform their mission, including employing their skills in a tactical environment to counter the effects of chemical, biological, radiological, and nuclear threats and weapons of mass destruction. Commanders were evaluated based on their units' performance throughout the August exercise.

Tomah Night Out

Tomah's observance of the National Night Out included this display from Fort McCoy's Police Department. Police officers also participated in a bike rodeo. The installation's Directorate of Emergency Services provided the Fire Department Smokehouse for demonstrations about how to escape a smoke-filled building. The Installation Safety Office staffed a booth offering information about many safety topics. The Fort McCoy organizations supported the event, which was held nationwide Aug. 6, to show support to its surrounding communities and to the Army Community Covenant.
