Army Concert Tour ticket kickoff set for June 28

A classic rock line-up for the Aug. 14 Army Concert Tour has been set with the musical groups Styx, 38 Special and Grand Funk Railroad. Grand Funk Railroad will be the opening act.

The ticket kickoff is Friday, June 28, with a special price of $25 per ticket, valid that day only.

On post, tickets will be available at McCoy's, building 1571, from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. or at the Fort McCoy Morale, Welfare and Recreation website www.mccoymwr.com from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. Credit cards must be used to purchase tickets via the web.

Off post, tickets will be available from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. June 28 at the following Kwik Trip locations: Sparta (Black River Street), Tomah (W McCoy Boulevard by KFC); Onalaska (Highway 16 and Highway 35 — Oak Forest Drive), and La Crosse (Rose Street).

After the ticket kickoff, tickets are $30 from June 29 to Aug. 13 and $35 on Aug. 14, the day of the performance. Ticket sales are subject to availability.

Volunteers needed for Aug. 14 concert

Volunteers are needed for the U.S. Army Concert Tour, featuring Styx, 38 Special and Grand Funk Railroad, Wednesday, Aug. 14 at Fort McCoy's Constitution Park.

Volunteer positions include will call, clean up, parking, ticket sales, ticket collection, wristbanding, and beverage service.

Volunteers will receive a T-shirt and an invitation to Volunteer Recognition Night. For details about volunteering call 608-388-4226.

 

July events scheduled at McCoy's Sportsman's Range

The .22 Shoot event that had been scheduled for July 13 at Fort McCoy's Sportsman's Range has been cancelled.

Commander's Call set for July 3 at McCoy's

The next Commander's Call is Wednesday, July 3 from 4-6:30 p.m. at McCoy's, building 1571. The event is open to all tenants and directorates, military ranks and civilians.

The event provides an opportunity for members of the Fort McCoy community and Garrison Command Group to come together in an atmosphere of camaraderie, good fellowship, and social rapport. It allows time for attendees to network, share issues, or to get acquainted with other associates.

 

5K run, walk set for July 6 at Pine View

Join Freddie the Fox, Pine View Campground's mascot, for a Fun with Freddie 5K run/walk Saturday, July 6 at 10 a.m. at the campground. The event is open to the public.

The scenic route will go through the campground and ski hill trails.

Prizes will be awarded to the top two male and female finishers. A special prize will be awarded to the participant with the most patriotic outfit.

The registration fee is $12. Return completed registration forms to the campground by July 6 at 9:30 a.m.

Forms are available at Pine View Campground, and Rumpel Fitness Center, building 1122.

 

5-Day Fun Club set for July 8-12

The Fort McCoy 5-Day Fun Club will run Monday, July 8 through Friday, July 12 from 9 to 11 am. each day at the South Post Community Center, building 6158.

Activities include Bible lessons, songs, games and prizes. The activity is free and open to eligible youth ages 5-12.

Registration is requested by Wednesday, July 3.

July Supervisor Academy training to focus on leadership skills

Supervisor Academy training for July will be "How Good of a Leader Are You?" Participants can choose between training lessons offered July 9 at 8 a.m. or July 18 at 3 p.m. at the Army Community Service (ACS) Center, building 2111.

Participants will rate their own leadership skills using a short questionnaire, share their conclusions with the group, and invite feedback to focus on their own development needs.

The training will enable participants to recognize the key skills of a leader; assess their own individual skills and identify which key skills are the most important in their own teams or organizations.

The Supervisor Academy is provided by ACS and the Fort McCoy Directorate of Human Resources.

It gives new and experienced supervisors the opportunity to attend 60- to 90-minute training sessions once a month to learn new skills, improve existing skills and develop a supervisor's tool box.

Paintball league registration under way, play begins July 11

Fort McCoy's Paintball League will be held from July 11 through Aug. 22 at Tactics Paintball and Laser Tag located at Whitetail Ridge Ski Area. The league is open to the public.

Each three-person team will play five matches per week. The end-of-season tournament will be held Aug. 29.

Personal paintball guns and gear are permitted, but paintballs must be purchased at Tactics.

The cost is $45 per case. Prizes will be awarded to the top six teams.

The registration fee is $85 per person ($12 per week). A minimum of four teams are required for the league. Registration forms are available online at www.mccoy.mwr.com or at Pine View Campground, building 8053. Completed forms must be returned to the campground by July 2. Soldier Show performs at Fort McCoy July 11

The 2013 U.S. Army Soldier Show will perform Thursday, July 11 at 6 p.m. at the Fort McCoy Rumpel Fitness Center, building 1122. The free event is open to the public.

Ready and Resilient is the theme for this 75-minute event featuring musical performances by active-duty Soldiers.

Doors open at 5 p.m., and all seating is on a first-come, first-served basis.

Building a Resource Library training set for July 18

Building a Resource Library training will be offered Thursday, July 18 from 8 to 10 a.m. at the Army Community Service Center, building 2111.

The training will provide participants with the tools needed to better assist Soldiers and Family members.

Training is designed to assist Family Readiness Group members, unit commanders and Family Readiness support assistants on resources available to them within the community, online, the MilitaryOneSource, ArmyOneSource, and MyArmyBenefits websites and many more.

TV6 repairs yield better picture quality

The command channel, Fort McCoy TV6, recently underwent repairs to improve the picture quality of the channel. Prior to the repairs viewers in some areas of the post had reported poor reception.

TV6, accessible on channel six from any television at Fort McCoy with a Mediacom Cable subscription, offers a bulletin of installation information as well as a variety of military-centric video programming. The bulletin and video programming are updated on a biweekly basis.
