Value Night bowling offered Thursdays in May at Thunder Bowl

Thunder Bowl Bowling Center, located inside McCoy's, building 1571, is offering Value Night bowling Thursdays in May from 4 to 9 p.m.

Lane rental is $10 per hour per lane. A maximum of six people is allowed per lane. Lane reservations are not accepted; lanes will be rented on a first-come, first-served basis. Shoe rental is an additional $1 per person.

Register now for CYSS Summer Camp

The Fort McCoy Child, Youth and School Services (CYSS) program is accepting Summer Camp registration for youth in grades kindergarten through 12. Summer camp begins Monday, June 10 and will be held Monday through Friday from 6:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. until Aug. 30.

CYSS Summer Camp offers an environment for youth to be active and have fun while learning and socializing during the summer break. Activities will include swimming, bowling, park trips, science club, drama club, art club, swimming lessons, sports clubs, and more. RIA Credit Union open house set for May 14 at Fort McCoy

The RIA Federal Credit Union at Fort McCoy will hold an Open House Tuesday, May 14 from 1 to 4 p.m., with the ribbon cutting at 1:15 p.m., in its new facility, building 1501. The event is open to the entire Fort McCoy community.

Refreshments, gifts and prize drawings will be offered at the event.

Building 1501 was remodeled to house the credit union. Renovations included all new interior finishes, such as flooring, ceilings, paint, bathrooms, reception/teller stations, and all new exterior finishes, including doors, windows, a brick facade and metal roofing. DA official photographs taken by appointment only effective May 15

Effective Wednesday, May 15 Department of the Army official photographs will be taken by appointment only at the Multimedia/Visual Information Branch, building 2113, at Fort McCoy.

Family Advocacy Program Brief set for May 22

A Family Advocacy Program Brief will be held Wednesday, May 22 from 9 to 11 a.m. at the Army Community Service Center, building 2111.

Army Regulation 608-18 mandates that all commanders and command senior noncommissioned officer advisers receive the brief within 90 days of assuming command and annually thereafter. Registration is required by Wednesday, May 15.

Travel approval, policy class offered May 22

A Defense Travel System (DTS) Approval Process and Travel Policy class will be offered May 22 from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m.

The class explains the steps needed to approve DTS documents.

The class topics are: regulations; approving official responsibilities, liabilities, and training; authorizations; and vouchers. Completion of the DTS Temporary Duty (TDY) Documents class is highly suggested prior to attending. This class is for reviewing or approving officials. TDY policy and the common rules to assist in the approval process also are covered.

Memorial Day Prayer Luncheon set for May 23 at McCoy's

A Memorial Day Prayer Luncheon will be held Thursday, May 23 from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. at McCoy's, building 1571.
The guest speaker will be retired Chaplain (Brig. Gen.) Douglas E. Lee.

Pitch, Hit, Run competition for McCoy youth May 23

A Major League Baseball (MLB) Pitch, Hit & Run competition for youth will be held Thursday, May 23 from 4 to 6 p.m. at Fort McCoy's Constitution Park.

The competition is open to youth ages seven to 14 who have a military parent or a parent who works at Fort McCoy.

The free competition provides youth with an opportunity to compete in an event that recognizes individual excellence in core baseball/softball skills. Winners will have a chance to advance through four levels of competition including Team Championships held at MLB ballparks and the National Finals at the 2013 MLB All-Star Game.

Boys and girls will be divided into four age divisions. The top male and female pitchers, hitters and runners in each age division and the all-around champion will advance to the Sectional Level of competition.

All participants must provide a copy of their birth certificate and have their parent or legal guardian fill out a registration/waiver from prior to the start of the competition. 3-gun shoot competition May 25 at Sportsman's Range

A three-gun shoot competition will be held Saturday, May 25 at 10 a.m. at Fort McCoy's Sportsman's Range.

Participants will shoot three courses of fire. Each stage will be judged on speed and accuracy. Prizes will be awarded to the top finisher in each of the following categories: open, tactical scoped, tactical irons and heavy metal.

The event is open to all authorized users of the facility. The entry fee is $20. Register at the Sportsman's Range or at Pine View Campground, building 8053.

Shotgun and rifles that are available for rent at the range must use ammunition purchased at the range. Prizes will be awarded to the top finisher in each of the four divisions. Food and beverages will be available for purchase.

'Battle of the Mud' mud run set for June 1 at Whitetail Ridge

A "Battle of the Mud" mud run will be held Saturday, June 1 at Fort McCoy's Whitetail Ridge Ski Area. The event is open to the public.

This year's three-mile course is longer, muddier, and tougher. The course includes hills, a slip-and-slide mud pit, hay-bales, a low-crawl sand pit, walk-the-plank mud pit and much more. Music, games and concessions also will be available. Division categories are men, women, children (10 years and under) and team/unit. Competitive and non-competitive heats are available.

Prizes will be awarded for first- and second-place finishers in each division. A special award for the best costume will be presented.

Love Languages seminar set for June 6 at McCoy's

A "Discovering the Love Languages in Your Relationship" seminar will be offered to members of the Fort McCoy community Thursday, June 6 from 5 to 9 p.m. at McCoy's, building 1571.

Participants can attend as a couple or individually. The seminar will be presented by Dan Benavides, a licensed clinical social worker.
