Annual Fort McCoy Wellness Fair set for May 8

The annual Fort McCoy Wellness Fair will be held Wednesday, May 8 at the Rumpel Fitness Center, building 1122.

The Wellness Fair is a Family and Morale, Welfare and Recreation event that supports the Rumpel Fitness Center's Preventive Health Maintenance program, said Julie Pressler, Rumpel Fitness Center personal trainer.

The fair offers Soldiers, civilian employees and Families an opportunity to get health screenings, receive information on nutrition, and participate in a 5K run /two-mile walk and other contests.

Information about health- and fitness-related services that are available at Fort McCoy and in the surrounding communities will be available at 30 display booths, Pressler said.

This year's schedule of events is a Red Cross Blood Drive from 9:30 a.m. to 1 p.m.; a 5K run/two-mile walk at 10:15 a.m.; the showcase of products and services from 10:30 a.m. to 1 p.m.; a Hot Shots and Lightning competition from 11 a.m. to noon, and the announcement of the Inch Your Way to Success winners at noon.

Pre-registration for the run/walk is available at the fitness center or through the WebTrac website at The first 100 participants to register will receive a free T-shirt. Registration cutoff is 9:30 a.m. May 8.

Door prizes include a TV, gas grill and more (must be present to win). Food from McCoy's also will be available for purchase.
