Todd to take command of 
181st Infantry Brigade

Dignitaries, guests and Soldiers at Fort McCoy will welcome incoming 181st Infantry Brigade Commander Col. Michael A. Todd during a Change of Command at 1 p.m. Friday, Dec. 19 at the Rumpel Fitness Center. Farewells to outgoing Commander Col. Jeffrey J. Kulp will be addressed by attending dignitaries.

Toddís accomplishments and qualifications provide more than adequate credentials to support his training goals and visions for the brigade.

Toddís educational background includes a bachelorís of science degree in Military History from the U.S. Military Academy at West Point, N.Y. He furthered his education by receiving a Master of Arts Degree in Near Eastern Studies from Princeton University and a Master of Arts in National Security Studies from the Naval War College.

Todd brings a wealth of training knowledge to the brigade. Todd has served as aide-de-camp for the 8th Infantry Division Commander for Maneuver and as the commander for Headquarters and Headquarters Company, Baumholder Military Community, Germany. He was the first American officer to graduate from the Kuwait Command and General Staff College. He has worked as a liaison officer to the Kuwait Joint Operations Center during Operation Desert Fox. He also has served as aide-de-camp for the Commander of Coalition Forces and Component Command and 3rd Army (ARCENT) during Operation Enduring Freedom in Afghanistan.

He served as an operations officer for the U.S. Army Inspector General Agency at the Pentagon during which he was attached to serve as the deputy operations officer for 3rd Infantry Division (Mechanized) during Operation Iraqi Freedom.

After command, he served as the director of training for the Joint Multinational Training Command in Grafenwoehr, Germany and was dual-hatted as the deputy director of training for U.S. Army, Europe. He then deployed to Iraq at the commencement of the surge in 2007 to establish the Baghdad Operations Command (Iraqi) Advisory Team as the deputy team chief.

Additionally, Todd brings combat experience and is a veteran of the Global War on Terror. He was assigned numerous high profile positions supporting the war efforts in both Iraq and Afghanistan. Todd, along with his family, looks forward to his new command assignment to Headquarters Company, 181st Infantry Brigade.

Kulp, the outgoing 181st Infantry Brigade Commander, is appreciated for his training contributions preparing mobilizing units for combat operations in Iraq and Afghanistan.
