Privately owned vehicles abandoned
at McCoy will be towed

People who leave their vehicles unattended for an extended period of time at Fort McCoy risk being charged with the abandonment of a vehicle, which could lead to the vehicle being removed.

Sgt. Domenic Modica, Fort McCoy traffic sergeant for the Directorate of Emergency Services (DES) Police, said privately owned vehicles (POVs) cannot be abandoned on the installation.

POVs identified as abandoned will be ticketed. Modica said owners then have three days to move them or the vehicle will be towed or removed.

According to Fort McCoy Regulation 190-5, any vehicle left parked for more than 20 days will be towed at the owner’s expense.

Authorized personnel who have operating/non-operating vehicles on post and need a place to park, store or sell their vehicles have several options.

The Fort McCoy Outdoor Recreation Program has storage lots, in sizes of 12-feet- by-25-feet or 12-feet-by-35-feet, for rent on a quarterly or yearly basis. The lots are in a fenced, secure area.
