Throughout its history, Fort McCoy, has accomplished many missions in support of national defense and has supported thousands upon thousands of men and women who wear the uniform in service to their country. This year marks the 69th anniversary of the start of United States involvement in World War II, the 60th anniversary of the start of Korean War, and the 20th anniversary of the start of Operation Desert Shield/Storm. The photos above give a glimpse of activity occurring at the installation in those time periods. Above, left, workmen carve the landscape and accomplish construction in an area of the “New Camp,” which became a reality in 1942. At center, men learn the sending and receiving of international Morse Code during the Radio Operators Course at the Camp McCoy Signal School in 1952.
