Sportsman’s Range open Oct. 30 at
Fort McCoy

The grand-opening of the new Fort McCoy Sportsman’s Range will be held Saturday, Oct. 30 from 9 a.m.-5 p.m.
A ceremony with remarks will start at 9 a.m.

The Sportsman’s Range will have 50-, 100- and 150-meter rifle ranges, a 50-meter pistol range and a combination trap/skeet shotgun range. The facility is open to all authorized Family and Morale, Welfare and Recreation (MWR) patrons and invited guests.

From Oct. 30-Nov. 7, the pistol and rifle ranges will be open free of charge, not including ammunition. Door prizes (including a rifle) will be given away daily until Nov. 5. A free rifle sight-in clinic will be held from 9 a.m.- 3 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 6.
Introductory fees will be in effect from Nov. 7-Dec. 31. The daily range fee is $3 (not including ammunition) and trap/skeet fees are $3 per round.

Hours of operation will be Oct. 30-31, 9 a.m.-5 p.m.; Nov. 1-5, 3-6 p.m.; Nov. 6-7, 9 a.m.-5 p.m.; Nov. 8-10, 3-6 p.m.; Nov. 11 closed; Nov. 12-14, 9 a.m.-5 p.m., Nov. 15-19, 3-6 p.m.; and Nov. 20-March 31, 2011, open by reservation only for groups of three or more. The facility currently doesn’t have lighting.

To access the facility from State Highway 21, enter Gate 19 (toward Pine View Campground/Whitetail Ridge Ski Area) and follow the signs.
