Seven-day deer hunting permits 
available for Gun-Deer

Fort McCoy is making available a new seven-day permit for the 2008 Gun-Deer Season. The permit will be valid from Monday, Nov. 24-Sunday, Nov. 30.

This new permit option will allow additional hunting opportunities, as well as help manage the installation deer population.

This permit is not valid during the opening weekend of the nine-day season, Saturday, Nov. 22-Sunday, Nov. 23.

Permits for the entire nine-day season, which runs from Nov. 22-30, already have been awarded.

A random drawing will be used to award the seven-day permits.

Preference will be given to individuals who applied for a 2008 Fort McCoy nine-day Gun-Deer Season permit, but were not selected. A maximum of 250 seven-day permits will be available.

The application deadline is Friday, Oct. 24. Applications can be mailed or hand carried to the Permit Sales Office, building 2168 South 8th Ave., at Fort McCoy. Permits will be processed and mailed the week of Oct. 27.

Applications can be downloaded from the Fort McCoy Public Web site http://www.mccoy.army.mil, requested by e-mail at usarmy.mccoy.imcom-northeast.mail.dpw-permit-sales@mail.mil, or picked up at the Permit Sales Office.

Permit Sales hours are 7 a.m. - 3:30 p.m. Monday-Friday, excluding federal holidays.
