Retiree Appreciation Day

A guest at Fort McCoy’s annual Retiree Appreciation Day (top) visits one of the veterans booths, which offered information about services available from government organizations and local businesses. About 520 people attended the day’s activities, which included a rundown of many issues affecting military retirees. The keynote speaker was retired Cmdr. Katherine O’Neill Tracy, U.S. Navy Reserve. She gave a legislative update briefing about retiree benefits.

Youth from the Right Step program watch a demonstration of how to navigate an obstacle at the Fort McCoy Confidence Course and learned confidence and discipline when they did it themselves. Right Step, a Milwaukee-based program, is for at-risk youth in grades five-12. The group held the camp in mid-September at Fort McCoy for youths, who could be away from Family and friends and focus on such things as life skills, personal hygiene and discipline.
