More than 220 people competed in the Fort McCoy Mud Run at Pine View Campground. The event will return in 2013, according to Outdoor Recreation staff members. The next racing event is the Oct. 31 Halloween run at the Rumpel Fitness Center. Veterans from throughout the Fort McCoy area visited the Veterans Career and Benefits Fair held Sept. 7 at Fort McCoy. The event offered information for veterans seeking jobs as well as federal and state information about benefits, such as loans, health care, educational benefits and application procedures. The event was sponsored by Wisconsin Work Force Development.

Youth participating in the Fort McCoy Summer Camp program portray farmers in the Missoula Children’s Theater presentation “Jack and the Bean Stalk.” The August production was one of the many activities available to youth in the summer program.
