Department will hold a car-seat safety check Saturday, Sept. 12 as part
of the 2009 Child Passenger Safety Week.

|Anyone in the Fort McCoy
community who misses or cannot attend the car-seat safety check
event Saturday, Sept. 12 is welcome to attend a similar event
set for Saturday, Sept. 19.
The Sept. 19 program will be held from 9:30 a.m.-3 p.m. in the
parking lot of building 905 as part of the Fort McCoy Day for
Other activities scheduled for that day include a visit by
McGruff, the crime-fighting dog, and police finger printing.

The check will be held from noon-4 p.m. in the Post Exchange parking
lot, building 1538. Members of the Fort McCoy community are welcome to
attend. Car seats are designed for youth from birth to 8-years-old.
Ensuring children are safe during motor vehicle travel is a priority for
law enforcement personnel, because according to National Highway Traffic
Safety Administration (NHTSA) statistics motor vehicle crashes are the
leading cause of death for children ages 3 to 6 and 8 to 14. The NHTSA
is promoting safety during this week to help protect children.
