LSS program to compete for Army award
|Fort McCoy will compete for the Organizational
Deployment Award in the Department of the Army (DA) annual Lean Six
Sigma (LSS) Excellence Award Program (LEAP).
The intent of the program is to lead and drive change within the Army by
recognizing organizations and practitioners who demonstrate excellence
in building, sustaining, and employing continuous process improvement
(CPI) and LSS capabilities in support of effective stewardship of Army
The program also intends to provide a mechanism to share CPI/LSS
innovations, best practices, and lessons learned across the Army.
The Secretary of the Army and the Army Chief of Staff approved the
annual LSS award program in July 2008.
Awards are presented in three categories.
The Organizational Deployment Award recognizes LSS deployment excellence
at the organizational level.
The Project Team Award recognizes the outstanding contribution and
results of individual LSS project teams.
The Enterprise Level Project Sponsor Award recognizes the outstanding
contribution and results performed by a Project Sponsor of an Enterprise
Level Master Black Belt LSS Design, Measure, Analyze, Improve and
The Fort McCoy Plans, Analysis and Integration Office (PAIO) submitted
nominations for the Organization Deployment Award and the Project Team
Award in June. The application consisted of general information
regarding installation LSS training and certification efforts, financial
benefit results, a series of five questions, and an optional additional
Fort McCoy Garrison Commander Col. David E. Chesser was informed the
Installation Management Command had nominated the PAIO for the
Organizational Deployment Award in August.
DA is scheduled to announce the Army’s LEAP winner on or about Sept. 17.
