New morning fitness class offered at Rumpel Fitness center  [ back to top ]
A.M. Interval, a new fitness class at the Rumpel Fitness Center, building 1122, is offered Mondays and Wednesdays from 5:30-6 a.m.

The class is designed to propel participants to their next fitness level, burn more calories and improve strength and power. The class consists of periods of medium to high exertion alternating with periods of rest or lighter exertion. A.M. Interval uses a variety of fitness equipment.

Five-on-five basketball league registration under way  [ back to top ]

Registration for Fort McCoy’s five-on-five basketball league ends Sept. 29. Games start Oct. 4 and will be played Tuesdays from 11 a.m.-noon at the Rumpel Fitness Center, building 1122.

Registration is open to teams and individuals.

Registration for Fort McCoy’s fall bowling league is under way. Play will begin in October at Thunder Bowl Bowling Center inside of McCoy’s, building 1571.

Lunch & Learn classes offered at South Post Community Center  [ back to top ]
Army Family Team Building is offering Brown Bag Lunch & Learn Wednesdays at the South Post Community Center, building 6158. Classes are held from 11:30 a.m.-1 p.m. and are open to the entire Fort McCoy community.

The class schedule is:
Sept. 14 – Personal Conflict Management
Sept. 21 – Introduction to Leadership
Sept. 28 – Stress Management
Oct. 5 – Communication Skills

Register no later than the Friday prior to each class by calling Army Community Service at 608-388-3505. Attendees must provide their own lunch.

 

Religious Support Office sets Sept. 11 remembrance  [ back to top ]
The Sept. 11, 2011 Protestant service at Fort McCoy will remember the events and aftermath of the terrorist attacks Sept. 11, 2001.

The Sunday service will begin at 9:30 a.m. in Chapel 1, building 2672, and is open to members of all religious denominations in the Fort McCoy community.

Chaplain (Col.) Tom Phelan, site support chaplain for the Fort McCoy Religious Support Office (RSO), said the service will honor the 10th anniversary of the event and cover the spiritual aspect of the date and what has transpired since then.

The event will include patriotic hymns, as well as the normal order of service.

A fellowship time at the Chapel Center, building 2675, will follow the service from approximately 10:45 a.m.-11:30 a.m. Refreshments will be available, and a special video presentation will be shown at about 11 a.m.

Fort McCoy versus Sparta softball game set for Sept. 11  [ back to top ]

A Fort McCoy versus Sparta softball game will be held Sunday, Sept. 11 at 1 p.m. The game will be played at Memorial Park in Sparta. Pre-game activities begin at 11:30 a.m.

This is the fourth game between the two teams. Fort McCoy is undefeated. The Sparta team is sponsored by Angelini’s Pizzeria & Ristorante.

Commissary Case Lot Sale being held Sept. 17-18  [ back to top ]
A Case Lot Sale will be held at the Fort McCoy Commissary, building 1537, Sept. 17-18 from 9 a.m.-6 p.m. each day.

The sale is authorized for all military ID cardholders.

A Case Lot Sale also will be held Sept. 11 in Duluth, Minn. from 9 a.m.-4 p.m.

McCoy Day for Kids event set for Sept. 17  [ back to top ]

The annual Day for Kids event at Fort McCoy is Saturday, Sept. 17 from 10 a.m.-2 p.m., in building 905.

Activities include inflatables, carnival-inspired games and Family photos. A complimentary lunch will be served from 11 a.m.-1 p.m., or while supplies last.

Building a Resource Library training being held Sept. 19 at ACS  [ back to top ]

Building a Resource Library training will be held Sept. 19 from 8-10 a.m. at the Army Community Service Center, building 2111.

The training provides tools for attendees to better assist Soldiers and Family members with community and online resources such as MilitaryOneSource, ArmyOneSource and MyArmyBenefits websites.

Roadkill 5-K run/walk being held Sept. 21  [ back to top ]
A Roadkill 5-K run/walk will be held Wednesday, Sept. 21 at 11:30 a.m. at the Rumpel Fitness Center, building 1122.

The first 25 participants to register will receive a T-shirt. Registration must be complete by 11 a.m. the day of the race. The entry fee is $10. Prizes will be awarded for first-place male and female finishers.

Flag football tournament set for Sept. 24 at Constitution Park  [ back to top ]
A flag football tournament will be held Saturday, Sept. 24 at 10 a.m. at Constitution Park.

The single-elimination tournament will consist of seven players per team.

Prizes will be awarded to the first-place team. Complete rules will be supplied to each team captain.

2012 Family Calendar workshop being held Oct. 1  [ back to top ]
A 2012 Family Calendar workshop is set for Saturday, Oct. 1 from 9 a.m.-1 p.m. at building 1130. The workshop is open to Families enrolled in the Family Focus program.

All the supplies needed to make creative 2012 calendars will be provided. Families also can bring in photos to include in their calendar. Registration is required by Sept. 23. Workshop size is limited.

The Schools of Knowledge, Inspiration, Exploration and SkillsUnlimited will offer Saturday swim lessons from Oct. 1-Nov. 19 at the Rumpel Fitness Center, building 1122.

The lessons are open to ages 6 months to 14 years old. Classes range from beginning swim lessons that focus on familiarizing children with the water to advanced lessons that teach swimming techniques.

Patriot Warrior Riders holds monthly meeting, ride  [ back to top ]
The Fort McCoy Motorcycle Mentorship Program, Patriot Warrior Riders, meets the third Thursday of each month at 5:30 p.m. at McCoy’s, building 1571.

The group will ride to the Ground Round in Tomah, where dinner and a meeting will be held at 6 p.m. Mentorship activities and initiatives will be discussed. Everyone in the Fort McCoy community interested in safe motorcycling is encouraged to attend. There is no membership fee to participate.
