New hunting/fishing/trapping regulation available online

The 2010 Fort McCoy Hunting, Fishing, Trapping Laws & Regulations have been approved and are available online.
The regulation — 420-29: Hunting, Fishing, Trapping Laws & Regulations — currently is available at the Fort McCoy public website at http://www.mccoy.army.mil/RecreationOpportunities/Fishing%20&%20Hunting/documents/fmcReg420-29NoMaps.pdf or through a link on the Fort McCoy Corporate Network under the Online Publications category by clicking on the words McCoy Publications (Circulars, Memos, Pams, Regs).

Hunting and fishing maps will not be available online.

David Beckmann, Fort McCoy wildlife biologist, said a few of the changes in the 2010 regulation include a definition of baiting, hunting area access procedures, blaze orange requirements for hunting blinds, and hunting hours for the Fort McCoy Gun-Deer Season. All Fort McCoy hunting, fishing, and trapping permit holders are required to know what is in the regulation.

New for 2010 is the availability of antlerless deer bonus tags for the deer archery season.

Beckmann said a limited number of archery bonus tags will be available on a first-come, first-served basis, beginning Sept. 13 at 10 a.m. Tags will be sold over-the-counter from any authorized Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources Automated License Issuance System agent.

Printed regulations and maps will be available by the end of August at Pine View Campground, building 8053, the Welcome Center, building 35, the Permit Sales Office, building 2168, and the Post Exchange, building 1538.

A limited quantity of printed regulations/maps also will be available at Rosco’s in Tomah, Wis., and Don and Vi’s in Sparta, Wis.

For more information about the regulation, people can call the Permit Sales Office at 608-388-3337 from 7 a.m.-3:30 p.m. weekdays or send e-mail to usarmy.mccoy.imcom-northeast.mail.dpw-permit-sales@mail.mil.
