Day for Kids event to be 
held at Fort McCoy Sept. 13

Fort McCoy Army Community Service (ACS) and Child, Youth and School Services (CYSS), will host the annual Fort McCoy Day for Kids on Saturday, Sept. 13, coinciding with the Boys and Girls Clubs National Day for Kids.

Good deeds can make a difference

Fort McCoy Army Community Service (ACS) is beginning a Good Deeds Calendar program.

Youth in the Fort McCoy community are encouraged to obtain a calendar from ACS 2111 South 8th Ave.

They — along with help from their parents — are encouraged to fill it out and submit it monthly.

Youth who bring the monthly calendars to ACS will receive 100 Family Focus Franks.

The event will run from 8:30 a.m.-3 p.m., at 905 South 12th St. All activities will be free, including lunch from 10:30 a.m.-1 p.m. Laughter coach Chip Lutz will present "Making the Homefront Fun" workshops at 9 a.m., 10:30 a.m., 12:30 p.m. and 2 p.m. "Kid Again Inflatable Fun" will include; Homerun Derby, NASCAR 8 Obstacle & the Dragon Bounce House.

Many interactive information booths will be available, to include The Seven Habits of Highly Effective Families, Internet Safety, Good Deeds Matter, Geo Trivia, Kids Learn to Save and more. Families will have the opportunity to make cards for Soldiers, tour the smoke house, visit with McGruff, have fingerprint records developed and ensure their car-seats meet safety standards and are installed correctly.

Other Fort McCoy Day for Kids activities will be free mini-golf at the Pine View Recreation Area from 9 a.m.-5 p.m., free family swimming at the Rumpel Fitness Center indoor pool, building 1122, from 1-3 p.m. free bowling at McCoy’s, building 1571, and free movie rentals at the Community Activity Center, building 2000, both from 11 a.m.-4 p.m.

All children must be accompanied by an adult.
