Jacob J. Gerhardt, post commander, announced that the Army
would reopen Camp McCoy as a full-time training center for
both combat and service Soldiers. The camp would be
reactivated immediately for training of units smaller than a
division. Camp McCoy, the largest of four posts across the
country that were reactivated, can accommodate 27,000 troops.
