Pine View checkout offers rental equipment for summer, year-round use

Authorized patrons at the Fort McCoy Pine View Campground at Fort McCoy can enhance their stay by renting items from the Checkout Center. The public also can rent much of the equipment for use at Fort McCoy from the facility, which is co-located with the Campground Office, building 8053.

Karla Rynes, Fort McCoy Outdoor Recreation Facility manager, said the rentals for the summer season are in full swing. Some of the more popular items include pontoon boats, canoes and kayaks, as well as fishing poles and other fishing-related equipment. The newest items for rent are chairs and tables, which may be taken off post for a three-day rental. These, and other select items, are available only to authorized military and civilian Department of Defense personnel for off-post rental.

“Anyone who would like to rent the items for use at Fort McCoy and for authorized personnel off of Fort McCoy is encouraged to reserve the items,” Rynes said. “The items can be reserved using WebTrac or by calling the Checkout Center office. People making reservations (online or via phone) must use a credit card.”

The checkout center currently has a wide variety of summer items available for use, with rates generally calculated on a daily basis. Various game sets, such as softball, horseshoes and volleyball, are available for rent.

Authorized patrons wanting to do landscaping or gardening at their home can rent garden tillers or woodsplitters.

Soldiers and other personnel who come to Fort McCoy for training or on orders may find the items available for rent, such as golf clubs and bicycles and bicycle helmets, which are required to ride at Fort McCoy, especially useful.

Campers can take advantage of a number of lodging opportunities, including campers and canopies. The campers are available for use on post by anyone. Off post rental of campers and canopy use only is available for authorized patrons. Several on-site pavilions are available for rent through the co-located Campground Office. Other recreational amenities include an on-site mini-golf course.

A complete listing with up-to-date prices and rental eligibility is available at the Directorate of Family and Morale, Welfare and Recreation website at www.mccoymwr.com by going to the Rec and Fitness and Campground section. The Checkout Center is open year-round and offers in-season rentals for different seasons of the year, Rynes said.

People at the Campground also can visit the Campground Store to get camping-related items during the summer season from the Memorial Day weekend to the Labor Day weekend.

Rental items can be reserved through the Fort McCoy WebTrac website at https://webtrac.mwr.army.mil/webtrac/mccoyrectrac.html. People wanting to reserve items who don’t have credit cards also can come to the Checkout Center and pay by cash or check. For more information, call 608-388-3517/2619 or 1-800-531-4703.
