The Fort McCoy Pine View Recreation Area will host a number of themed weekends in July and August.
A Beach Bash will be held July 24-26; an Outdoor Adventure Weekend II will be July 31-Aug. 2; and the Dog Days of Summer will be Aug. 7-8.
Beach Bash weekend will feature boat races, volleyball, movies and more. The Outdoor Adventure Weekend II will have a scavenger hunt, games, a tent race, movies and crafts.
Dog Days of Summer will feature a dog run/walk event and the best dog trick. Two-legged participants can view movies, make crafts and compete in a basketball shooting contest.

Army Community Service (ACS) will offer Army Family Team Building Professional Development Training from 8 a.m.-4:15 p.m. Wednesday, July 29 at ACS 2111 South 8th Ave., at Fort McCoy.
Topics will include: Communication Skills, Building Cohesive Teams, Managing Group Conflicts, Delegation for Leaders and Meeting Management.

The next Newcomer’s Orientation is scheduled for 8 a.m.-noon Wednesday, Aug. 12 at Fort McCoy Army Community Service 2111 South 8th Ave.
Registration is requested by 4 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 5.
Remaining 2009 sessions are set for Sept. 9, Oct. 14, Nov. 18 and Dec. 9.

Nominations for the Fort McCoy, Excellence Through Diversity Award are being accepted through Friday, Aug. 14.
Nomination forms can be found at the Fort McCoy Corporate Homepage or by picking one up from the Army Reserve Equal Employment Opportunity (EEO) Office.
This award recognizes individuals on the installation who have made outstanding contributions in the support and advancement of women, minorities, and individuals with disabilities at Fort McCoy.
All military and civilian members on Fort McCoy are eligible to be nominated for this award.
Nominations must be submitted in narrative format and address the applicable criteria.
Members of the Fort McCoy community may submit sealed nominations to the Army Reserve Equal Employment Opportunity (EEO) Office, building 2187, Monday through Friday, 7 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
The award will be presented at the Women’s Equality Day observance set for Thursday, Aug. 27, 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. at McCoy’s, building 1571. A guest speaker will be announced.

Issue and volunteer nominations for the Fort McCoy Fiscal Year (FY) 10 Army Family Action Plan (AFAP) Conference, which will be held Oct. 21-22 at building 905 at Fort McCoy, will be accepted through Saturday, Aug. 15.
Anyone in the Fort McCoy community wishing to submit an issue or volunteer to be part of the conference may do so by going to the ACS Schoolhouse at http://www.mccoymwr.com/ACS/School%20House.htm or by calling the Army Community Service AFAP program manager at 608-388-2359.

Army Community Service (ACS) will host Sponsorship Training for members of the Fort McCoy community from 10:30-11:30 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 18 at 2111 South 8th Ave.
Sponsorship is a commander’s program that assists Soldiers, civilian employees and families during the permanent change of station or reassignment process. The sponsorship program helps improve unit or organization cohesion and readiness.
Topics covered during sponsorship training include: command and sponsor responsibilities, program entitlements, types of sponsorship, and regulations and forms.

Advance tickets for the Army Concert Tour performance at Fort McCoy Friday, Aug. 28 are on sale for $45.
The concert, which will be held 7 p.m. at Constitution Park, features Country Stars Brooks & Dunn and classic rock stars Lynyrd Skynyrd who will be appearing together for the first time.
The opening act will be Halfway to Hazard.
The tickets will cost $45 through Aug. 27. Tickets the day of the event will be on sale for $50.
All ticket sales are subject to availability.
Ticket outlets include McCoy’s, building 1571, the Community Activity Center, building 2000, and Pine View Recreation Area, building 8053, at Fort McCoy.
Off post, tickets also sold at MB Audio in Tomah, Market Bar in Sparta, and Ace Hardware in La Crosse.

|Volunteers needed for Army Concert Tour [ back to top ]|
The Fort McCoy Morale, Welfare and Recreation program is seeking volunteers to help with the Friday, Aug. 28 Army Concert Tour performance at Constitution Park.
Volunteers still are needed for: ticket takers, wristbanding, beverage servers, ticket sellers, parking attendants, will call and clean up.
For their efforts, volunteers will receive a concert volunteer T-shirt and an invitation to Volunteer Recognition Night Thursday, Sept. 3 at McCoy’s, building 1571.
