Family Fun Day

Participants at Family Fun Day at Pine View Campground try out a bungee trampoline (top). Family Fun Day activities included a petting farm, ladder golf, bean-bag toss, face painting and the Fort McCoy Police and Fire Smokehouse.

Car Show at Pine View open to the public  [ back to top ]
The Fort McCoy Morale, Welfare and Recreation Car Show is Saturday, July 23 from 1-4 p.m. at Pine View Campground. The free event is open to the public.

Anyone with a classic or interesting car, truck or motorcycle can register for the show. First- and second-place prizes will be awarded in each category.

Registration forms are available at www.mccoymwr.com. Completed forms can be dropped off at Rumpel Fitness Center, building 1122.

Registration also will be available from 11 a.m.-noon the day of the show, however, pre-registration is encouraged.

Dueling Pianos performance July 29 at McCoy’s  [ back to top ]

Dueling Pianos will perform at McCoy’s, building 1571 Friday, July 29 at 8:30 p.m.

The all-request, sing- and clap-along, rock ‘n’ roll, comedy show will feature high-energy piano-playing entertainers who make the audience part of the show. The show is free and open to the entire Fort McCoy community.

Army Concert tickets still available, quantities limited  [ back to top ]

A limited number of tickets remain for sale for the 2011 Army Concert Tour featuring Mötley Crüe, Poison and special guest New York Dolls Aug. 5 at Fort McCoy. Tickets are $45 in advance and $50 the day of the show if available.

Tickets can be purchased at Ace Hardware, La Crosse; Market Bar, Sparta; MB Audio, Tomah; McCoy’s, building 1571; Pine View Campground, building 8053; and the Community Activity Center, building 2000.

The concert is presented by U.S. Army Entertainment and Fort McCoy’s Directorate of Family and Morale, Welfare and Recreation.

Volunteers needed for Aug. 5 concert  [ back to top ]
Volunteers are needed to support the 2011 Army Concert Tour Friday, Aug. 5.

Volunteers are needed for will call, clean up, parking, ticket sales, ticket collection, wristbanding, and serving beverages.
Volunteers supporting the concert will receive a T-shirt and an invitation to the Volunteer Recognition Night at McCoy’s, building 1571.

Family Focus offering ‘Our Family Time’ poster-making  [ back to top ]

“Our Family Time” poster-making is being offered to Fort McCoy Family Focus participants in August.

Families can pick up a poster board to create their display at the Army Community Service (ACS) center, building 2111, Mon.-Fri., 7:30 a.m.-4 p.m.

Families can draw pictures, write stories, attach photos, etc., on their poster board to display something they did as a Family this summer.

Completed posters must be taken to ACS by Sept. 7 for 100 Family Focus Franks. Posters also will be displayed at the Fort McCoy Day for Kids event to be voted on by attendees.

A Family Time prize basket will be awarded to the three Families who receive the most votes on their poster at the event. Posters will be returned to each Family.

Triathlon event Aug. 13 at Pine View Campground   [ back to top ]
A triathlon will be held at Pine View Campground Saturday, Aug. 13 at 3 p.m. The event is open to the public.

Participants will swim one-quarter mile in open water, bike 10 miles and run three miles. Bikes will be available for participants.
Prizes will be awarded to first- and second-place winners.

Register by Aug. 11 at the Rumpel Fitness Center, building 1122, or Pine View Campground, building 8053.

The registration fee is $10.

5-K race at Pine View open to public, dogs  [ back to top ]

Mutts on the Move, a 5-K run/walk for participants and their dogs, is Saturday, Aug. 20 at Pine View Campground.

The event begins at 9:30 a.m. and is open to the public.

All pets must be on a leash and be up-to-date on shots.

Prizes will be awarded to first-place male and female finishers and their pets. The registration fee is $10.

Texas Hold ’em League play Thursday nights  [ back to top ]

A Texas Hold ’Em League is held at 6:30 p.m. Thursdays, at the Fort McCoy Community Activity Center, building 2000.

The event is open to authorized patrons 18 and older, who include Soldiers, Department of Defense civilians, retirees and dependents. No entry fee is charged.

Individual tournament play will be featured, and each player will start with the same number of chips.

Players can choose to play whenever they wish. A new game is held each night. Prizes will be awarded for first place.
